The Prague 3 district, which is located on the right bank of the river Vltava and consists of the districts of Žižkov and Vinohrady, has primarily an agricultural past, then the memory of the Hussite wars and, last but not least, modern architecture. The former bourgeois development is today a busy center for a rich nightlife. The parks are full of manicured greenery and there is plenty of space for active leisure time.
In the years 1949–1960, Prague 3 was the designation of the urban district of the capital city of Prague, which included most of Karlín and part of Nové Město. The basis for the creation of the Prague 3 district was the former Prague X district (since 1947 called Prague X – Karlín), whose territory was identical to the territory of Karlín and which was established as an electoral and self-governing district on January 17, 1923, based on a government decree.

In Prague 3, most of you will probably think of the TV transmitter with climbing sculptures of children as the first and most famous one, followed by the Vítkov hill, where many visitors to Prague gather and where you will primarily find the Národní památník – National Monument and a huge statue, or the monument to the military leader Jan Žižka from Trocnov, which reminds us that it was on this hill that the most famous part of the life of this founder of the wagon wall began. For the sake of interest, the author of the statue is Bohumil Kafka. Another important landmark of Vinohrady, which should not be missed here, is the Church of the Nejsvětějšího srdce Páně – Sacred Heart of the Lord on Jiřího z Poděbrady Square, which was built in the concept of early Christian architecture between 1929 and 1932.
